Integration of Global Education:
- SWBAT collaborate and discuss schools in their home countries, and compare/ contrast it with the school they study in now. How are they the same? How are they different? How can we ensure that children everywhere are able to get an education?
- SWBAT discuss the importance of being able to speak another language. Do we need to speak a language other than English in the US? Why or why not?
Globally competent students recognize multiple perspectives.
- Students will see photos of children going to school in different countries. Students will make connections about their experiences of going to school in Guatemala/ Honduras/ Puerto Rico etc.
- Students will compare their experiences with the photos they have seen. Students will contrast it with their lives in the US.
- Students will analyze how the photos and experiences help them understand education systems across the globe.
- Students will connect with a school outside the US to be able to develop deeper understandings.
- Students will evaluate languages used in schools around the world, and debate the usefulness of other languages.
- Students will present their perspectives of different school systems, and languages used in various schools around the world using technology. (Padlet, Flipgrid etc)

- Students will be provided opportunities to discuss and refine their ideas.
- Students will be provided with a word bank to use for writing their essay.
- Students will be provided with a graphic organizer to compare and contrast school systems.
- Students will be provided a template to write a response about teaching languages in school.
Informal Outcome Assessments:
- Students will write a 5 paragraph essay about the diverse types of education around the world
